Ceramic fillings with CEREC offer major benefits over normal fillings, with clinical studies showing CEREC restorations are as durable as gold restorations and in some cases even better. There are no long delays from having the impressions done and sent away to a dental laboratory and then having the teeth made and sent back. Instead, a CEREC restoration can be completed in one visit.

Checks & Cleans- Preventive Dentistry
Examination of teeth and gums for early detection of oral concerns including early stages of oral cancer. Removal of stains and hardened plaque that can not be removed during your daily oral routine.
Crowns
Every tooth is naturally protected by hard enamel. However, this can sometimes wear down over time or be broken, exposing the inner tooth. In these cases a crown may be the best way to strengthen and protect the tooth. The crown fits over the tooth to the gum.
Bridges
Bridges are often used to replace missing teeth. A bridge is made up of an artificial tooth that is anchored on each side of the gap between your natural teeth – effectively forming a bridge between the teeth. Crowns and bridges are usually made of porcelain and gold alloy.
Dentures
Dentures, often referred to as false teeth, require just as much care as healthy teeth. Often when a number of teeth need to be removed a patient may require dentures.
In some cases an immediate denture is made on the same day the teeth are removed, while in other circumstances the denture is made two to three months after the teeth have been removed, allowing time for the bone to heal.
No matter which type you have, caring for your dentures is imperative to good health. They should be removed before you go to bed, carefully cleaned and stored safely in a container of cold water.
You will also need to gently brush with a soft toothbrush the gums and roof of your mouth which are normally covered by the dentures.
Teeth Whitening
Teeth can become discoloured for a number of reasons. Diet, smoking and certain drinks such as tea, coffee and cola can lead to the staining of teeth.
Dental on Martyn provides teeth whitening procedures, such as bleaching, to whiten your teeth.
Bleaching is ideal for teeth that are stained yellow, brown or orange but does not work so well on teeth that appear grey, because this is usually a thinning of the tooth itself from wear and tear.
Root Canal Treatment
No matter how good an artificial tooth is, they will never replace the real thing. When a tooth has become badly damaged due to decay, disease or injury, root canal treatment can sometimes save the tooth from being extracted.
The process involves the removal of inflamed or infected pulp from the interior of the tooth. Once removed the root canals are cleaned and sometimes filled with anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial medicines to treat the infection.
The root canals are filled and the pulp chamber sealed. If you take good care of the treated tooth, it can last for many years and possibly the rest of your life.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are often used to replace many teeth or just a single tooth. Implant designs, techniques and materials have improved greatly over the past 20 years and have become an important part of modern dentistry.
Dental implants allow artificial teeth to be secured firmly in the mouth and can be more convenient than dentures.
Patients that have switched to implants from dentures often report fewer problems when eating and talking.
Wisdom Teeth Advice & Referrals
Wisdom teeth can often cause pain and discomfort for people. Not only can impacted wisdom teeth cause infection they can also impact on nearby molars necessitating the removal of both teeth.
While your dentist may recommend the removal of your impacted wisdom teeth, some may turn out to never cause trouble and may not need to be removed. Remember, the decision to have wisdom teeth removed is always yours to make.
Veneers
A combination of lifestyle and personal factors can result in teeth with blemishes, faults and discolouration. Veneers are a thin, coloured porcelain shell, which are carefully crafted to bond and cover the front of damaged teeth.
They are ideal for chipped, slightly misaligned, misshapen or discoloured teeth. Usually the treatment can be done over two or three visits to Dental on Martyn.
